Heartbreaker against Hillsdale
Cap knew they'd have their hands full against the visiting Knights. Just how full they wouldn't fully appreciate until the final second of the game. With the score tied 6-6 and a minute left in the game, Cap ran a series of plays in a desperate attempt to pull off a miracle score. Most of the Cap bench and all of the coaching staff figured that this game would probably decide 1st place in the Lake division, and a tie wasn't going to cut it. Unfortunately, they left a few too many seconds on the clock and Hillsdale capitalized on the opportunity. After getting the ball at mid-field with under 10 seconds on the clock, the Knights completed a pass that put them on Cap's 35 yard line. With one second left, Hillsdale ran a screen to their tailback and scored the winning touchdown. Cap 6, Hillsdale 12.
The Knights caught a break in the final quarter of the game when leading tackler, Tarik Moore, left the game with a strained shoulder. His absence at the end of the game was sorely missed.
The Mustangs will have to shake off the loss and get ready for San Mateo next Friday.
